Vangipurapu Venkata Sai Laxman – A name which served the Indian cricket with full dignity but was always kept behind the scene and was away from the limelight. The other stalwarts of the team had the glam quotient in them which laxman lacked.

Once Steve Waugh quoted ““If you get Dravid, great. If you get Sachin, brilliant. If you get Laxman, it’s a miracle.” This was the real class of the man. Noted for his batting against Australia laxman always proved himself. Many Australian bowlers said that did not know where to bowl Laxman as he had a superb wrist technique which was compared with another Hyderbadi great Md Azharuddin.

Former Indian Sourav Ganguly bursted out on the selection committee and said”He has sent a strong and clear message to the selectors. Making this seem like a farewell series does not make sense. It’s a tough decision, afantastic decision. He is 200 percent right… hat’s off!”

Truly there was a clear communication gap between the selection committee and Laxman. They could have informed him before that they want him to quit.

Ganguly added more “I was doing commentary during the series in Australia. Despite getting green-top wickets, Ishant Sharma could bag only four wickets in four Test matches. We know how Dhoni failed. Gautam Gambhir’s only good contribution is a half-century. So why only Laxman should be singled out?”

Reacting to Laxman’s comment that he could not reach Dhoni, Ganguly criticised the skipper for not being available for his players all the time.  “A skipper should be available 24 hours. I don’t know why Dhoni does this… But I think situation would have been different, had Laxman got Dhoni’s support” Ganguly said.

Truly, Sourav Ganguly pointed out some important things which the selectors should consider in future. They should concentrate more on building The Future Team India nor hurting the sentiments of the legends of the game by playing a balancing nature.

We will miss you VVS. Don’t really know who will take your place or who will be the appropriate replacement but the Politics of the Indian Cricket circuit has again insulted yet another legend of this beautiful game!
