Sachin’s century of centuries is a remarkable achievement which has made every Indian proud. As a cricketer, I can tell you that 100 international hundreds are hard to even comprehend. That he has actually achieved this humongous feat is truly unbelievable.
I was not surprised when he said after the Indian innings that he felt 50 kilos lighter. It shows he is human after all. For one whole year, the entire cricketing fraternity waited in anticipation for this magical landmark. Now that it has come, it is time to sit back and enjoy this historic moment. Sachin holds scores of batting records, but this is one mark which is unlikely to be broken by any cricketer. I really hope no one ever breaks it.
One can only salute his grit, gumption and ability that has seen him shoulder the responsibilities for Team India for the past 22 years without ever losing focus. And he has always kept his feet on the ground. Cricket is his life.
From a personal point of view, numbers actually mean nothing when it comes to evaluating Sachin. In my book, he is the greatest player I have seen, and even if had not scored so many runs or centuries, he would have been on top of my list. It has been an honour and privilege to have played alongside him and shared the dressing room with the Little Master. It has been a long association and a memorable one. I congratulate Sachin and his family.
