Speaking to Headlines Today, Sourav Ganguly said, he is a big believer of keeping the tradition of the game and hence wants no change in the 50 over format.

Earlier Sachin Tendulkar, had sent an letter to the ICC, suggesting to change the ODI format into a 2-innings format of 25 overs each. Tendulkar believes that would make the game more interesting for the viewers to watch as the 50 over game is slowly becoming monotonous due to T-20 cricket.

Sourav Ganguly said, “I think the ODI cricket is going on fine, just look at the India vs England final ODI, runs were scored at nearly 7 per over”. He also said, “I am a big believer in keeping the tradition of the game, in any case there is T-20 cricket around, you cant make cricket faster that that”. He went on to say if you make 10 overs cricket it will be a no show, T-20 is short enough, so 50 over cricket has its own position. He said, “I believe Sachin has asked for two innings format, but I am not sure how much that’s going to help”.

Sourav Ganguly also talked about changes in the T-20 cricket, he said “What needs to change in T-20 cricket is the Duckworth–Lewis method. It is really very ordinary & nobody understand what it is”. He said, if you have to make changes in the 50 Over cricket, then Spice the wickets up. Make sure there are no flat wickets.
