Sourav Ganguly to be a Commentator for the England Tour
Reported By : Paranjoy Deb

You all must be waiting to see “ The Warrior Prince” back with cricket.?? Right.?? Here is he back once again as a commentator for the tour of India in England.!! We all must be watching him in the reality show “ Ke hobe Kotipoti” but it always great to see him back with cricket as cricket is his passion. So,he will be in the commentary booth for the matches between India and England.Sourav Ganguly has been a TV commentator ever since he retired from all forms of cricket. He started his first innings of commentary during T20 World Cup in 2009.But he must have had nostalgic feelings as soon as he stepped on to the field of VCA Jamtha ground .It was the same venue where he played his last Test match against Australia a couple of years ago. While he has doing the pre-match analysis with co-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, he got a huge cheer from the crowd. He too acknowledged the love of the spectators by waving his hands. He also won a few friends in the South African camp when he returned the ball to them which came near to him during the SA team’s practice prior to the start of the match.
He is developing into a fine commentator. Real breath of fresh air in the commentary booth.
His pitch report at Motera was spot on but everyone (including Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni etc) misread this pitch. Sachin said that they were targeting 310-315 but had to continuously readjust the target as the ball started stopping. His insights throughout the game were spot on… And he was not backing away from openly calling out on some strategic mistakes. I really look forward to his 30 mins in the booth!! Between, Atherton was great in the booth too… Specially liked his “winning ugly” point… Except that he has a tendency to occasionally fallback to long ramblings on England related matters – “seriously Athers, no one cares about England anymore!” I particularly enjoyed the discussion when Atherton, Akram and SG (the Lancashireans) were ON. The one advantage SG has in commenting is that he can bring in his own personal examples of his playing time as player and captain, in order to explain why certain things are happening or why he believes a captain should be doing certain things. He can use incidents from his career as example. That would be perfect. It’s just that he rarely does that. He should be used as an “expert” commentator, not a regular radio-like commentator.
R C Venkateish, Managing Director, ESPN Software India Pvt. Ltd. Said Ganguly’s uncanny ability to read match situations made him fit for the job. “Sourav is recognized by the cricket fraternity globally as one of the shrewdest captains in the history of the game combined with his extraordinary leadership skills his uncanny ability to read match situations gave the national team a defining edge during his tenure. “His analysis and his understanding of the modern day game will now lend a new dimension to the overall experience in the commentary box,”
“Sourav Ganguly who started his commentary career during T20 world cup 2009 is all set to hit the the commentary box once again during the tour of India in England which starts on 15th July in England.”
WARNING : Don’t DARE to miss it.!!!!
