“I have learned a lot from Dada (Sourav Ganguly),” Shreekant Wagh
Wagh, who played for Pune Warriors this season, was easily the best player from the region in this IPL. He may not have got enough chances with the presence of Alfonso Thomas and Wayne Parnell but he impressed everyone in the limited opportunities he got. The 22-year-old Buldhana youngster feels he will be a different bowler in the next season.
“Last year, I got to play only one game but I watched big players and how they prepare for the match, their mindset and I had an amazing last season. However, this year I played 7 matches and it will surely help in the coming season. I have learned a lot from players like Yuvraj (Singh) and Dada (Sourav Ganguly),” Wagh told TOI.
Asked what Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh advised him, Wagh said, “It was more of a mental thing. They told me there is nothing wrong with my bowling but I need to keep thinking about the ways to take wickets. In fact, I touched over 140km/hr in the last few matches. Yuvi Bhai gives you liberty to bowl at your strength; gives his inputs. Dada told me to work more on bowling with the old ball. I know how to do it with the red ball but bowling with white ball is bit different.”
